A Nature column says health systems in the Arab world must listen to women about menopause

Hala Zahreddine Fahs argues that gaps in training, research and open discussion are holding back menopause care in Arab countries. She cites a 2026 review that found only 15 studies of HRT use across 22 Arab countries, and calls for better training, clear communication and accessible care.

The other side The Lancet's 2024 menopause series argued for an empowerment model that looks beyond treating menopause as a hormone deficiency, with women as equal partners in their own care. Hickey, Hunter et al., The Lancet, 2024
